Linlithgow Youth Rugby Dinner 2010
With 105 youth rugby players and around 20 adults, the club was buzzing on Wednesday 24th March for the annual youth dinner and awards. Edinburgh Rugby's Fraser McKenzie was the main guest and, in addition to handing out the awards, was on hand to address the assembled group and answer questions.
A big thanks to Fraser, who hails from Dunfermline - indeed he first played for their club 1st XV as a 16 year old - for making the trip out to Linlithgow and entertaining those present. Fraser, who is an excellent ambassador for rugby, has represented Scotland at u18, u19 and u20 levels.
But the night belonged to the youngsters and, after proceedings were started with Rome's own piper "Bullet", the assembled group tucked into a fine meal provided by Roddy Bain.
In a season where two age group teams (U15s and U18s) have reached their respective Brewin Dolphin Scottish Schools' Finals (Bowl for U15s, Plate for U18s), it shows how well another team has played all season for them to be selected above such esteemed company as the Team of the Year. However, there was no doubt in the coaches' minds that for a consistently high level of performance and a great team spirit, the S2s were worthy winners.
