Jim Wallace Memorial Trophy 2010
(aka the Cairns Match)
Another beautiful day to end the season with this annual fixture and BBQ. Before kick-off, the Linlithgow Academy U15 and U18 teams had their team photos taken and were given recognition for their achievements in reaching the Brewin Dolphin Scottish Schools' Bowl and Plate Finals respectively. Click here to view team photos.
The President's team, captained by Euan 'Les' Richardson, was one of the youngest on record, with a number of older 'youngsters' playing up for the day in the Cairns' Select. (Normally the match is Under 30s v Over 30s). Indeed, until the late addition of Andy Birrell to the President's squad, Les was the oldest player at 24!! Davie Cairns captained the Cairns' team, for whom John Smith had the longest playing record! Club Secretary and Edinburgh Rugby Referees' Society ref Ken Richardson officiated.
Cairns Select 10 - 16 President's Select
The President's team contained a good number of 6th form players - school captain Scott Herdman, Dougie Robb, Ally Wood, Calum Townend, Calum Young, Ian Loggie and Lewis Hewitt, in addition to Matthew Archer who is still U18.
John Preece and Graham Black were on hand to capture the action:
