Matt Dixon Honoured at SRU Gala Dinner

Linlithgow captain Matt Dixon was awarded the National League 2 'Player of the Year' at the SRU Awards Dinner at Murrayfield last night (Wednesday 20th May).

In 24 league and cup games Matt amassed a total of 277 points, including 56 penalties, 44 conversions, 2 drop goals and 3 tries.  When you add to this his inspirational captaincy and his all round play and solidity at full back, you can see why Matt was the clear winner of this award.

Congratulations Matt - a fitting tribute to a superb season!

"Air Birrell" (AB) Helps Land the Cup for the President!
AB scored a brace of tries Saturday, as the Presidents' XV (under 30s) ran out 31-0 winners over the Cairns' XV (over 30s) in, what was for the first 45 minutes, a closely contested and hard fought match in the annual close of season Jim Wallace Cup match.

What a season for the President, Gavin Brown, with promotion for the club and victories for his XV in the annual Pete Paterson match (against the Scottish Prison service) and in the Jim Wallace Cup.

To cap it all, Linlithgow retained the Dave Wylie Cup earlier on Saturday at Livingston (S1/S2 competition).

Tim Finally Breaks Season Duck with last play of Season!
It's hard to believe, but up till the last play of the Reds' season, stand-off Tim Meadows had still to score a point!  With the match running into injury time, AB crossed to score under the posts and skipper Matt Dixon nominated Tim for the conversion.

With time expired (or should it be Tim expired!), he stepped up and coolly slotted the kick through the uprights for his team's 30th and 31st points of the game and his 1st and 2nd points of the season!

The Reds official photographer, John Preece, was on hand to capture the moment.
