Places Still Available!

This is the fourth year that Linlithgow Rugby Club has run a summer camp for youth rugby.  The event will again be coordinated and run by PJ Butler, our Club Development Officer, aided by other SRU qualified coaching staff.  Last year’s camp was again a big success and we are looking to develop the programme further.  Our aim is to make the week fun and informative – learning new skills, playing mini games, daily competitions, rugby celebrities and more fun!

You can download the booking form and more information here.

  • Camp runs from Monday 26th to Friday 30th July inclusive.
  • Each day starts at 9-30am and finishes at 3-30pm.
  • Cost is £70 per participants, with family discounts of £15 (for the second child) and £25 (for the third child).
  • Open to all youngsters (boys from age 6 to age 17, girls from age 6 to age 12).
  • No previous rugby experience needed.
  • Players will be split into appropriate age groups for the camp.

Annual General Meeting:  Friday 21st May

The 40th Annual General Meeting of the Club was held on Friday.  Both President Gavin Brown and Director of Rugby Gordon Dixon paid tribute to the players and coaches in a season which saw the Reds finish in their highest ever position in Scottish Rugby (40th), the U18s reach the Brewin Dolphin Scottish Schools U18 Plate Final and the U15s reach the Brewin Dolphin Scottish Schools U15 Bowl Final.

The outgoing President (Gavin Brown), Vice President (Craig Young), Director of Rugby (Gordon Dixon), Hon Treasurer (Alison Timlin) and Hon Secretary (Ken Richardson) were all returned to office.

Club captain (Matt Dixon) stood down after three fine years' service and Euan Richardson (aka Les) was returned as club captain for season 2010/11, with Gordon White as the vice-captain.

Ian Donaldson (Fixture Secretary) stood down after many years in the role and his place will be filled by Scott Oliver.

A fuller report will appear in due course.

Season Ends in Glorious Sunshine!

Farewell to Dave Woods

All the club's best wishes go to Dave Woods who returns to New Zealand next week, via the States.  Dave played against East Kilbride in the penultimate league match on Saturday, having received his 20 game tie the night before at the club dinner.

Dave is a former room mate of Blair Stewart, who played for the Reds in 2005 and is currently playing in the Top 14 in France with Albi.

It was probably a case of the night before on Saturday, as the Reds slipped up at home in their penultimate league match.

The young Reds can hold their heads high as they lost out to a strong and determined Earlston side, who finished the match deserved winners.  Having taken the lead in the first minute, things then began to look bleak for the Reds, as they conceded 24 points without reply.  However a strong second half performance closed the gap and made the scoreline more than respectable.  Congratulations to all the squad who have played their parts over the whole season, not just the cup matches.

John Preece reports: That had to be one of the best matches I've been at all season, and I've been at a fair number of SHE Premier 1 matches. Absolutely end-to-end and full of commitment and skillful play, from both teams. Either side would have been worthy winners.

Congratulations to both teams!
